This Privacy Policy explains how Nahom Ghirmay ("we", "us", "NoSkip") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the NoSkip mobile application (the "App"). We are the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and, where applicable, the EU GDPR.
If you have any questions, contact us at nahomghirmayeyob@gmail.com.
NoSkip is a voluntary accountability app that helps you keep a gym schedule you set for yourself. You choose your training days, set an optional personal stake, invite a person you trust to act as your accountability partner, and confirm your sessions using your location and an optional photo. NoSkip does not collect, hold, or transfer any stake amount — any stake is a figure tracked in the app and settled privately between you and your partner outside the App.
| Category | What it includes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Email address, username/display name, and your role (user, partner, or both) | To create and operate your account |
| Precise location | Your device location while the App is in use only, when you check in at the gym or set your gym on the map | To confirm you are at the gym you chose |
| Photos | Photos you take to confirm a session, which are shared with your accountability partner for review | Verification of a completed session |
| Accountability relationships | Links between you and the partner(s) you invite or accept | To enable partner verification |
| Commitment & stake data | Your schedule, session outcomes, and the stake amounts you set and any outstanding balance recorded in the in-app ledger | To run the accountability features (this is a record only — no money is processed) |
| Notifications | Push notification token and your notification preferences | To send reminders you've opted into |
| Subscription status | Whether you have an active subscription or trial (processed by Apple — we do not receive your payment card details) | To unlock paid features |
| Usage & analytics data | How you interact with the App (for example, screens viewed and features used) together with basic device and technical data, collected in part through our analytics provider (PostHog) | To operate and secure the App, understand how it is used, and improve it |
We do not request background or "Always" location, and we do not track your location when the App is closed. We do not access your photo library to browse existing photos beyond what is needed to submit a verification.
We rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the App you signed up for), consent (for location, camera/photos, and push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, analytics, and improving the service), and legal obligation where required.
We share data only as needed to run the App:
These providers process your data as our service providers (or, where they act as independent controllers — such as Apple for payments — under their own terms). We share data with them only as needed to run the App, under agreements that require them to protect your data to a standard at least equal to that described in this policy and to use it only on our instructions or as their role requires. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Some of our providers (including Apple, Superwall, Expo, Google, and Railway) are based in the United States, so some of your data may be transferred outside the UK/EU. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum, Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent mechanisms. Our analytics provider, PostHog, is used on its EU-hosted infrastructure so that analytics data remains within the EU.
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. Some records (such as activity logs and the stake ledger) are kept for the operation and integrity of the service. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data as described below.
You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete account). Deleting your account cancels your active commitment, stops all reminders, revokes your partner links, and does not create any stake or penalty. We then delete or anonymise your personal data — including your verification photos, precise location data, name and email, and your identity in activity records. Deleting your account does not, by itself, cancel an Apple subscription; manage that in your Apple ID settings.
Under UK/EU GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email nahomghirmayeyob@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or your local EU supervisory authority.
NoSkip is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old to use the App. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under this age; if you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard the information you entrust to us.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where changes are significant, notify you in the App.
